Considering the remarkable decline in the values of citizenship among the different classes of Tunisian society and the growing phenomenon of selfishness and nepotism at the expense of the sense of belonging to one society and one nation with a single history and cultural origins,
With the growing regionalism, fractionalism and the resulting decline of national ties and the growth of unilateralism mentality,
With the regression of the state in implanting a sense of citizenship in the public institutions,
With the disappearance of the culture of citizenship, which is the real link and the basic component of a unified homeland,
And with the belief in the importance of joint social action to build and consolidate the democratic institutions that the Tunisian citizen aspires to,
Based on the need to work together to re-examine the values and principles of citizenship at all levels, it was agreed to establish an association called “Citizen ACT – ACTION CITOYENNE”.
Considering all of this, the founding members of this association derive the intellectual ground from the reality and the poor conditions of our daily lives at all levels, the inability of oursociety to develop visions to be embraced by all the people, the ruin of the value system and the wrong understanding of Freedom and democracy.
For these reasons, the founding members believe that Tunisia’s salvation can only be achieved with the efforts of all its people through a constructive work that establishes civilization.
They also believe that this can only be achieved through a true concept of citizenship that will ensure the values of solidarity and the linking of rights to duties between individuals, groups and generations, and especially between the state institutions and the citizen which establishes the concept of Citizenship.
